Instant Gratification
The world is at your fingertips. In 2018, you can have your groceries delivered to your doorstep within a few hours, you don't have to leave your couch to order the next book in a series you're dying to read. You can find out who that actor is in the movie you're watching (you know you know him, you just can't place him) by just pulling out you phone and doing a quick search. "Millennials are over exposed to dopamine through the use of social media" (Divnomics, 2017). You live for instant gratification even if you don't realize it. If you didn't have access to all of these things, your whole world would be different. You can just ask Siri.
It plays into Netflix and how we view television. You don't have to wait anymore. You get all episodes immediately. Even movies. "Facing increased competition from all sorts of entertainment options, movie studios are finally about to start letting their films appear on DVD and in digital formats not too long after their theatrical releases" (Luckerson, 2015). When we once had to wait nearly a year for a movie to be released on DVD after we missed it in theaters, we now only have to be patient a few months before we can rent it digitally and seeing what everyone else is talking about when they say it's the best movie ever. The thing is, we just expect instant gratification now. The way society things is that we want it and we want it now.
